IIT Stands for 'Indian Institute of Technology' and JEE stands for 'Joint Entrance Examination'. IIT Conducts JEE every year for admission to its engineering (B.Tech), integrated degree (B.Tech and M.Tech), Integrated Msc and other courses at colleges in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati, Roorkee, kanpur, varanasi and kharakpur. IIT JEE is the toughest engineering entrance examination in the world. Only brightest of the brightest students are able to clear this exam.



IIT JEE exam has questions on maths, physics and chemistry. Format of IIT JEE keeps on changing. In the year 2006 there were three papers: one on maths, one on physics and one on chemistry, each of two hours duration. In the year 2007, there were two papers, each of three hours duration. The syllabus of IIT JEE exam is based on some topics covered by ISC and AISSCE board examinations. Some topics may be of the graduation level. IIT JEE exam is developed in such a way that a student is not able to clear it by just by cramming the topics he covered during school. The exam has objective type of questions for all subjects. You can appear for this exam only twice, after which you are not eligible for any further attempts. The maximum age limit for appearing in thei exam is 25 years for general students and 30 years for SC/ST or OBC students.
